"Abosu...please don't tell me you think that's food..." Kalula mentioned as she caught Abosu staring up at an Emolga who was nesting in a tree. The Absol didn't exactly answer her, but the fact that he was ignoring her and still staring up at it proved her right. She thought about this for a minute. Pokemon eating other Pokemon was kind of a gross thought, but she supposed it did still happen. She shuddered inwardly at the thought. But had she ever actually seen Abosu hunt? No...she didn't really care too. It was much better thinking that he ate Rainbows, and of course cookies...or something. Of course he ate Pokemon food, but sometimes, the Pokemon just got that urge. And Kalula wouldn't let him hunt the annoying blonde male that she dragged with her everywhere these days. Kalula continued staring up at it with him with an even look for a moment more and pushed his snout lightly.
"Gross, Abosu." She mentioned, placing her hand back onto the plate she was carrying and turning around. Abosu focused on the Emolga for another moment, seeming torn between following Kalula or hunting the mouse. Finally, he decided against leaving Kalula alone with the male, and began walking back behind her. She had left the campsite simply to find some berries to make into a sauce. Kleo was back at camp with Garett. But she really didn't want Abosu hunting, not while she was around. The last thing she wanted to think about was the bloody mess that would be on his white fur...oh, and the fact that he would have totally mauled a poor Emolga.
"Gar-bear, I got the berries like I said! Oh and can you tell Abosu he's gotta stop having those hunting fantasies? I'm starting to think he's going to do it one day." She mentioned, sitting back down at the log by the fire. Abosu snorted. He would dare Garett to try to control him, that was for sure. There would never be a moment he would forget the fact that the boy had fallen right down onto his back. That had actually hurt and he didn't care how many times Kalula insisted he was built for that. Who the hell went flying off Rooftops anyway. He huffed and went to go lay by Kleo, who seemed to be snickering at him. He was sure that this guy, was going to drive him insane. Of all the meat bags in the world, Kalula went with this one? He felt Kleo smack his back with her tail as if she knew what he was thinking and huffed, laying down on his paws.
"Did you ever think of Pokemon eating other Pokemon Gar-bear? Cause...I find it kind of weird. I mean, if we give them Pokemon food who needs meat?" She mentioned, still clearly not letting go of the topic. It was too hard to let go of. What kind of thought was it anyway? She wouldn't let any of her Pokemon eat other Pokemon, why would anyone, right? She seemed to space the fact that this was nature entirely. While Abosu wondered how someone like Kalula could put up with someone like Garett, Kleo wondered the opposite. As much as she loved Kalula...she was probably the strangest girl on the planet. How in the world she could make a cute pair with someone, Kleo had not one clue.

Ah, camping. Fun times. It took him back to days spent with his mother and father laying on their backs on sleeping bags as constellations with words he could never pronounce correctly were pointed out to him and the distant hum of bug-type Pokemon lulling them all the sleep. By that point in time, he practically considered himself the camping master, having spent at least ten years of his life traveling and doing this kind of activity almost every night. The only thing he had troubles with was putting up the darn tent; he never used any of those when he was alone, but he figured that Kalu would prefer them to sleeping under the sky and trees alone. He couldn't remember her ever vocalizing it – maybe she had offhandedly that he couldn't remember...? - but he figured it was better safe than sorry. Speaking of the brunette, she had started off into the woods with the company of her Absol – the one that hated him and made him want to soil himself sometimes – with the intent of gathering some of the native berries leaving him to idly poke at the raging fire they'd gotten started about an hour ago and kept as strong since with a stick and remember his years as a child with his ever traveling parents. What was the point of thinking about those days, though? As fun as they were, he was beginning to enjoy his new girlfriend's company even better which was, well, a massive accomplishment on its own. It was nice, thinking about how many more nights like this he'd get to spend with her.
Garett had reached down to scratch as Midna, his Mightyena's chin when the girl returned, carrying a large quantity of blue-colored fruits with her. “Bar-bear, I got the berries like I said!” Grinning from ear to ear, he used the same hand to give her a little wave. He didn't get the time to respond, however, before she continued, “Oh, and can you tell Abosu he's gotta stop having those hunting fantasies? I'm starting to think he's going to do it one day.” He laughed a little too awkwardly as she sat down beside him on the log, leaf-colored eyes settling on said Pokemon instead as it snorted at the notion. Yeah. Going to start hunting. If only there wasn't a high probability that he'd end up on the receiving end of those claws some day, as well. “Uh, yeah, I don't think that he's going to listen to me if he won't listen to you...” 'Also, he totally hates me' is what he didn't say, but figured he'd implied. He watched the Liepard and the Absol interact for a bit, musing at how they reacted to one another in such stark comparison to how comfortable his own Ponyta and Mightyena had grown with one another's company. Of course, he wasn't here to spend time with the Pokemon; he'd just started to turn his attention back to Kalu when she spoke up again.
“Did you ever think of Pokemon eating other Pokemon, Gar-bear? 'Cause... I find it kind of weird. I mean, if we give them Pokemon food, who needs meat?” He prodded the flames again with his stick, using his free hand to rub his chin thoughtfully in his stupid “invisible beard” gesture. “Guess I haven't really thought of it too much. But, I mean, some Pokemon are carnivores or omnivores. There's only so much Poke'food can give 'em, right, Honey Bunches of Oats? Also, I think roasted Bidoof would taste better than soggy pellets, but that might just be me,” the blonde added with a laugh, not entirely sure how comfortable he actually would be if he knew he was eating roasted Bidoof.

When Garett mentioned Abosu not listening to him if he didn't listen to her, she stopped what she was doing for a moment to think about that. She took a second to look up at Abosu, who had just closed his eyes. Was he doing that glaring thing he did to Garett that she didn't like behind her back again? She thought she had told him to cut that out. If anything, she didn't want Abosu to scare Garett away, but sometimes she feared he would, because although cuddly to her, she was very aware of the Dark-types feelings about her boyfriend. But she'd have another sit down with Abosu in private later. Garett was going to be around for a long time, she hoped, so she had to get Abosu to at least put up with him. And she was sure it wasn't even Garett himself, it had been the fact that he fell on him. That was basically the only reason Abosu disliked him, and he was probably just festering to make himself angrier at the poor boy.
"...Aw I'm sure he'd listen!~ He'll get used to you sometime." Sure, she didn't know when sometime was, but she wanted Garett to feel like someday, the Absol would like him too. She'd get him too...sometimes. She watched as he poked the fire again, and she took out a small portable pot and placed some of the berries inside of it. Then tying the handle to a sick, she whisked it over to the fire from her seat, seemingly trying to keep balance while holding it. While the pot was small enough not to break the stick, she kind of worried it would. She wasn't exactly the most perfectly poised person in the world. She listened to Garett as she did this, nodding slightly, and she stopped herself from giggling at his nickname for her. Despite what most people would think, Kalula happened to like what Garett called her. It was endearing, and she wasn't as easily embarrassed as other people. Above all, she thought it was cute.
"Roasted Bidoof sounds kind of gross though. Wouldn't you want like, I don't know...roasted Purrlion?" At the mentioned of her pre-evolved species name, Kleo looked up, a small growl coming from her throat. Kalula took a minute to realize what she said and waved the cat off. "Come on Kleo you know I didn't mean Fel!" Kleo's tail flicked again and she went back to her resting state, Kalula still smiling. Kleo always took everything so literal. She really had to break from that bad habit, seriously. But it was okay, because Kleo was Kleo and while it was annoying, Kalu accepted her all the same, because the Liepard herself was accepting of all the weird that was Kalula.
"I mean, wouldn't it be better not to eat a Bidoof for dinner? I mean, do Pokemon like People food as much as you like Spaghetti Gar-Bear?" Kalula rarely had called Garett by his name since they started dating, and why? As much as she liked his name, she just thought his nickname was a lot cuter. It also came easily to her, and she was talking to someone close to her, so it was alright. She still seemed to be struggling witht he berry pot and keeping it balanced, but she smiled at Garett all the same. She could handle it, she swore! They weren't going to go to bed without dinner!

In response to his comment – his totally accurate comment, mind you – about the Absol refusing to listen to him, even if his command was just an add on to what its trainer wanted it to do, Kalula eyed said Pokemon from where it was sprawled out on the ground next to her Liepard. “... Aw, I'm sure he'd listen~!” she tried to assure him after a few moments to think. “He'll get used to you sometime.” He grinned at her, but it was weak and not the least bit reassuring; there was always the chance that she was right, but he didn't figure he'd get lucky until years down the road. That was, sadly, too long a wait; patience was not particularly a strong point with him. “Maybe. We can hope,” he said, trying to imagine how wonderful it would feel to not have the looming threat of the creature wanting to stab his guts out hanging over his head. Pretty. Darn. Wonderful. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched as she fished out one of their smallest pots, filled it with some of the berries she'd just gathered, and hung it over the fire with a stuck. Normally, should he have been with anyone else or at any other place, he would have checked to make sure they weren't poisonous or anything; thankfully, from what he'd heard, dangerous berries didn't grow around those parts. Not commonly, at least.
“Roasted Bidoof sounds kind of gross, though. Wouldn't you like, I don't know... roasted Purrlion?” she asked thoughtfully after listening to him talk about eating said derpy as heck Pokemon. The comment must have ruffled her Liepard's fur the wrong way – ha ha, cat puns – seeing as she growled hardly a moment later, before her trainer tried to console her. “Come on, Kleo, you know I didn't mean Fel!” Garett couldn't help but chuckle a little at this, albeit quietly as to not make matters worse as the dark-type Pokemon calmed down and rested itself back down on the ground. After everything was settled once more, however, the brunette broke the silence once more, saying, “I mean, wouldn't it be better not to eat a Bidoof for dinner? I mean, do Pokemon like people food as much as you like spaghetti, Gar-bear?” To that last question, there was only one suitable answer.
No one like any food more that Garett liked spaghetti.
No one.
Or, at least, that's what he figured. It wasn't like he saw people carrying around their favorite foods in Ziploc bags every day. Though, when he really thought about that, doing that himself made him looke like an idiot. … Not that it totally wasn't worth it. He figured he wouldn't bore her with a tirade of why spaghetti was the best food and how no one could appreciate it or any other food like he could and settled for something that made him sound like less of a crazy person that he sometimes did. “Ain't no one likes spaghetti more than I do.” … Or not. “But I dunno. I guess, since Pokemon come in different species, it's kind of like us eating Pokemon, so I guess there's not really a big deal. For all we know, we might be Pokemon ourselves and be eating fellow Pokemon all day. Everyday. But even then, I couldn't blame a Pokemon for wanting, like, Tauros meat or something. That stuff's the Galactic Bomb.” After finishing up that stupid speech of his, he become acutely aware of how she was struggling to keep the pot up on her own, though she never complained about it. Moving to rest a gloved hand on top of her own, he offered, “Hey, you need help? I can carry that for you. Not that I think you can't handle it or anything, but you look like you're about to drop it in the fire right now.”
NOTE;; pfffffffff- so sorry for the wait. D'X and that this post is so lame compared to your's. i'll try to make sure i get right on it next time.

She didn't think she was having a problem with the berry pot. After all, she was totally strong! Kleo, one eye open, could clearly see what the trainer could not. If she was holding that pot up for much longer, there'd be berry sauce all over the place. Her tail flicked a bit as she looked over at Garett. Unlike Abosu, she had some kind of faith in him, and believed he'd notice, eventually. But since Kalula had mentioned Spaghetti, it would be a while. She just hoped by then her fur wasn't caked in Berry Juice. She kept her head on her paws, watching the couple as they continued to interact. Humans were strange, that was one thing that Kleo was sure of. She heard Kalula giggle at Garett's mention of no one liking Spaghetti more than he did, and her ears went up.
"Oh of course, how could I forget?~ No one loves Spaghetti more than my Gar-bear." She responded, quieting soon after to listen to the rest of his explanation. He was kind of right. Maybe they were Pokemon, and they never knew it. Maybe they were just inside of one giant Pokeball, and they ate their own kind. It was this kind of thing that made her mind swirl a bit. What if everything they were taught in trainer's school was wrong? Maybe she could breath ice or fire or something, but that was something she'd need to test someday. Her eyes were wide as she stared over at him, pausing to adjust the stick in her hands.
"You've always got great explanations for everything!" She commented, wholly meaning it. Garett was very smart, and Kalula knew that, even if sometimes his explanations just speculation on his part. That was one of the things that really drew someone like her to him. Sometimes conversations about certain things, could last for a pretty long time. Like the one conversation they had on who created Spaghetti in the first place. That might have been about two hours. She still didn't know how to break it to Hugh that she was dating in the first place. Well, he was taking too long right? right?! One of them had to start dating first, even though she always thought it would be Hugh. That thought actually always made her jealous, until she learned of whom was trying to win her brother's heart. So, that was okay with her. But she knew who it was. Hugh had not even met Garett through a hole in the wall.
She was snapped out of her thoughts when she felt Garett's warm hand on her own. Honestly, she thought sometime she should buy some gloves too. On nights like this maybe they kept hands warmer than they would be. But she'd think about that later, considering it was too late for stores to be open and they were in the middle of the woods. They had a tent to sleep in tonight, so she'd not mind the cold. But maybe one day they could try sleeping outside. That might be fun. The worst thing that could happen was a Weedle crawling into the bag, right? But oh, he had asked her something hadn't he? She smiled at him and allowed him to take the stick from her, moving over a little further so he could be near the center of the fire.
"Thank you Gar-bear!~ It should only take a few more minutes." Once she was sure Garett was stable in his spot, she scooted closer, leaning to rest her head on his shoulder. Out here, it was much easier to see all the stars, and she enjoyed the sight thoroughly. She also enjoyed watching the smoke rise against the dark sky. Now that was just cool. "I've always wanted to see a meteor shower you know?~ That would be so awesome! I mean, I think the stars are pretty now, but if it looked like they were falling? Too cool!~" She mentioned with a small shiver of excitement.

Throughout his musings on the wonders of spaghetti – again – it was a little hard to miss the way Kalu's Pokemon were reacting to the situation. Kleo in particular was looking wearily at them as though she was worried that something were about to go wrong. Of course, with pasta on the brain, it was a little difficult to think about anything else, so he didn't say anything of it to either the Pokemon or its trainer, instead choosing to invest his time in stupidly going about his favorite food and some crazy, hypothetical situation in which the human population was just another species of Pokemon. Though, for all they knew, that could be right. Pokemon came in all shapes and sizes, had different powers, and looked different from others of their species. Dwelling on that was making him kind of uncomfortable, though, so he let it slip out of his mind before it registered in his mind that she'd said something before listening to the rest of his babbling. Something about agreeing with him loving spaghetti? Wow, he felt like a jerk, he should have been paying attention. If he wasn't worried about confusing her further, he would have punched himself in the face as punishment.
“You've always got great explanations for everything!” she gushed after Garett had wrapped up that frivolous speech of it and, unlike many, she sounded like she honestly believed that he had something worthwhile to say. Honestly, he didn't doubt it. Unlike many of the people he'd encountered and gotten the chance to speak to, the brunette was open minded in ways that others just could not compare to. When met with the nonsense he could spew out sometimes, she didn't shoot it down instantly, instead thinking about it herself and wondering if maybe part of what he'd said was right. It was nice, having someone who didn't think it was on drugs half the time. He merely shrugged a bit, still a little honored every time she actually listened to him, much less embraced what he said, and muttered, “Well... Eh. I try. Thanks, though, Honey Bunches of Oats.” After that, though, she seemed to loose herself in her own thoughts, not really paying attention to him or what else was going on. He didn't interrupt at first, respecting her and the need to think.
Well, didn't interrupt until he realized she was having issues with the pot. The blonde didn't want anything to be set on fire. Or explode. Though, he couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the thought of exploding berries. It'd be a pain to clean up, but it'd be worth it for a bit, at least. Kalula snapped back to reality when his hand touched her's, but didn't say anything at first, not even reacting much when he offered to take the pot from her. She seemed to realize she was spacing off again, though, she she offered the stick to him and made room for him to sit closer to the middle of the dancing flames before them. “Thank you, Gar-bear~!” she said. “It should only take a few more minutes.” Grinning, nodding, and moving over a bit, he replied, “You're the boss, here. I've got no idea how to cook anything, so you're going to have to tell me when they're done.” Well, he knew how to cook pasta, but that was really it. Oh, and pie. How he loved pie. The trainer scooted over again to rest her head on his shoulder and he let one arm let go of the stick to wrap around her should. “I've always wanted to see a meteor shower, you know? That would be so awesome! I mean, I think the stars are pretty now, but if it looked like they were falling? Too cool!”
Looking up at the night-time sky, Garett realized that, without the industrial waste of the city, the stars were as clear as ever out here, if not more so than usual. It'd been a while since he'd paused to actually look at them and, at that moment, he felt mesmerized by their glittering lights. Of all his years on the road, camping like this, he couldn't remember a single time he'd gotten the chance to see a meteor shower. He always had the worst luck with that kind of thing. He would have said something along the lines of “maybe we'll see one tonight”, but figured that it was unlikely to happen, anyway, and saying that might jinx it even further. “... Yeah,” was all he said instead, affectionately squeezing her arm a bit as green eyes locked on the gorgeous sky above their heads.

Kalula knew that Garett really didn't know how to cook, aside from his favorite foods, but that wasn't really a problem. Her mom had fretted so much over her leaving the nest that she had taught her how to cook easy things, so through her Journey, she'd be set. It was a good thing she had too, because if she hadn't, Kalula would probably be living off spam by now. She smiled as she remembered the first time her mom had tried to teach her how to cook. Catastrophic. But after that, she got better at it, and as long as she was able to make good meals for the two of them, Kalula was set. They weren't glorious meals, but Garett seemed to like them, or he at least never complained. She could make Pasta too, so that was always her default when she didn't have an actual plan. But today, it was Riceballs with sweet flavored centers. All she had to do was pack it tight and moisten the middle with the berry juice. She had already cooked the rice earlier, then realized she lacked the sauce to complete it. It was a quick fix, but it had taken her a bit to find those berries. Kleo seemed relieved that Garett had taken the pot from her, because a few more minutes and her fur could have been bleached in berry juice.
She seemed more than happy when she felt Garett wrap an arm around her shoulder. She didn't fully understand the whole relationship thing, not quite yet, but she knew it was moments where they could relax together like this that would help her learn a bit more about it. It also helped a lot that Garett was so patient when it came to her, and didn't often, if at all, try to shove things along. At most he was antsy if they stayed in one place for all that long, but it was just Garett being Garett, and Kalula didn't mind moving around too much. And she was also glad for the fact that they didn't fight much. If she had to have an argument with him over anything, it was probably because he was busy breaking half the bones in his body. One of her bigger fears was Garett hurting himself...well, beyond repair. Well, he hadn't been doing much of that lately, but she was pretty sure he was going to start on that by the time they were in the next town.
"Well it'd be cool I bet. You can see stars kinda clear like this too in Asperita, but only if you're up on the lookout. Anywhere else is too bright." She mentioned with a small chuckle. She did love that lookout, it was one of the charms of Asperita itself. It had also been her thinking spot as a kid, so she took special liking too it just because of that. Memories were there too, of how she'd sit up there with Abosu on those days where she especially missed Hugh, when he was off on his journey. She hoped there'd be more memories there too, someday. She'd just need to make a ton more of them, it wasn't going to be hard, that she was sure of. She felt Garett give her a light, affectionate squeeze on her shoulder and let out a contented sigh. Of course, she didn't want to forget the berry sauce.
"Oh, that should be enough time!" she reached over to take the stick from him, standing up now and carefully untying the pot. Once it cooled down enough, she brought out the rice and set to work rolling it and placing the sauce in the middle before closing them up totally. She continued to work, and looked back at Garett. "Mom always said that this was a quick fix when you couldn't think of anything to cook. I...didn't really have any ideas tonight so I hope you'll like them!~ She'd make these when me and my brother were kids, but she didn't actually tell me it was because she couldn't think of anything until after Hugh left." Once she finished, she set a few riceballs on each plate and carried them over, holding one plate out to Garett and then sitting down next to him with her own. "Careful, the middle is hot Gar-bear." She warned, eyeing her own a bit cautiously. She had more then once burned her tongue on the little devils.
"Hey, Gar-bear?" She asked after a small bite out of one of her first riceballs. She seemed rather focused on whatever question she was about to ask him...maybe a little too focused for a question so simple. But she was curious. She hadn't asked before, so she wasn't sure if Garett had siblings, but that wasn't the question she was going to ask. "What kind of things did your mom cook all the time?" Maybe all she cooked was pasta, but as much as Garett loved it she was sure there was other things that his mom probably prepared.

Staring at the pot tied to the string tied to the stink in his hands was temptation beyond anything he'd felt that day. Not like he had many tempters throughout that twenty-four hours, but his stomach was clawing at his insides in a demand for food – stinking, darnit, evil metabolism, why did it always make him hungry? - and his impatience for it to just get done so that they could eat was boiling over. According to his girlfriend, she was going to be making a lovely batch of rice balls and the berry sauce cooking before his very eyes was to be put in the centers of said rice balls to add to the flavor. If he was entirely honest, he loved the things that Kalula cooked, simple as they were, and his tummy had been grumbling the moment she'd finished the rice earlier. However, moaning and groaning aloud never got him anywhere in his childhood days and he'd never been given any reason to believe it would work now, she he kept his impatience as in check as he could and glared daggers at the pot, hoping the added heat from his slight irritation would cause it to cook faster. Ha! As if.
“Well, it'd be cool, I bet,” she said to his lack of a proper response to her statement about seeing a meteor shower. “You can see stars kinda clear like this, too, in Asperita, but only if you're up on the lookout. Anywhere else is to bright.” The tiny laugh that erupted from her mouth caused him to grin warmly and he tried to picture what her home town looked like in his head. Of all the places he'd gone, Unova had always been so far away that his family never dared to set foot on its lands. He'd only just started to explore what the region had to offer when he'd met Kalula and, after bumping into her a few more times by chance, the two began dating and had been accompanying each other frequently since. He didn't really know where they were going, if he were to be entirely honest; he just insisted that they get moving along and let Kalula, who knew the land far better than he did, lead the way. He wondered if they were headed toward Asperita, after all; even if they weren't, Garett longed to see the place she mentioned so frequently with his own eyes. If it was half as wonderful she made it out to be, he'd be in for a treat. “I'd like to see them with you there someday,” he muttered truthfully, though the words seemed to tumble out of his mouth without his volition, anyway.
The brunette let out a content sigh and it was times like these when the blond felt like the happiest guy on the planet. He certainly was up there, at the very least, if he wasn't the most happy. However, the moment was a little ruined when she reached over, grabbing the stick from out of his hand, saying, “Oh, that should be enough time!” While he was hungry and more than a little anxious to eat what she was being kind enough to cook, he'd still missed out on cuddles and that kind of outweighed his need for food. Cuddles were nice. Cuddles were awesome. But, again, the trainer didn't allow himself to vocalize his stupid whinings; instead, he watched as she let the sauce cool and rolled it up in the rice from earlier. “Mom always said that this was a quick fix when you couldn't think of anything to cook. I... didn't really have any ideas tonight, so I hope you'll like them~! She'd make these when me and my brother were kids, but she didn't actually tell me it was because she couldn't think of anything until after Hugh left.” He nodded at her, understanding where that logic could come from. If she hadn't had to make a detour to fetch berries earlier, the amount of time needed to make them was rather short and, overall, they looked simple to make. Offering a plate with a few of her latest creations before him, Kalu warned, “Care, the middle is hot, Gar-bear.”
Pfft. He wasn't afraid of no rice balls.
Taking a large bite of one, however, Garett realized that he should have, in fact, been afraid of rice balls. Or, at least, the one in his mouth scalding his tongue. Letting out a muffled cry, he spit the hot food into the fire and let out a couple of pants, feeling the heat dissipate from his tongue only to be replaced by annoying numbness. Well, he couldn't say she didn't warn him. “Aha... ha... ha... Oops?” However, there wasn't much time to dwell on his injured tongue before she was firing a question his way. “Hey, Gar-bear? What kind of things did your mom cook all the time?” He blinked at her for a bit, mind still a little out of it before it all settled in. “Oh. Oh! My mom? Eh, she wasn't much of a cook. Anything she tried to cook ended up a hot lump of charcoal, pretty much. Well, I mean, it would if burnt food made charcoal. Nah, but my dad cooked most of the food; just stuff like hotdogs and hamburgers. Easy stuff that we could take with us on the road. Sometimes we'd have steak or the nights we'd spend in a city, he'd make us seafood stuff, but – between you and me – it all tasted the same and... kind of gross.” Blowing on the remaining half of his evil little rice ball of doom and taking a tentative bite, he asked, “What about you? Other than rice balls, what kind of stuff did your mom make?”

She felt herself blush when Garett mentioned seeing the stars in Asperita with her. It'd sure be different watching the stars with him there than it had been when she used to watch them with Abosu. She smiled and gave him a nod. Whatever else, she knew that she'd probably enjoy that greatly herself. If it was with Garett, then she was sure. As long as he didn't try to like, sled down the ledge of the lookout or something. She bit back a little sigh and chuckle, and simply sat there for another minute like some kind of space cadet. Abosu opened one eye, reminding himself why he put up with dragging this guy along with them. To see the smile on Kalula's face, well, that was reason enough. Of the time he spent with Kalula when she was a child, he had not seen her smile, at least not until the Day Hugh finally came home. He sighed and closed his eyes again, relaxing himself against Kleo. Of course, the second Garett made her cry, was the second that he killed him.~
And so Kalula sat there with her plate of riceballs. So far things were going well, and it was nice. She hadn't burned herself on them yet like she used to, so that was good. She jumped when Garret spit a hot mess into the fire, which flared slightly at the contact. Noticing he had taken a larger bite than he had suggested, she sighed. He was pretty silly, and had been defeated by a Riceball. She covered her mouth, trying to suppress a giggle. But it was pretty funny to think of someone being defeated by a Riceball, but she half wanted to ask Garett if he was okay. There wasn't too much that she could do for his now burned tongue though. She smiled as he for the most part regained his composure, moving closer to him again as if that were any kind of comfort at all.
When he started telling her about the things his parents would do for food as an answer, she listened as wholeheartedly as possible. So his dad was more of the cook? In all honesty, both her parents were normally busy, but as far as she knew, her father had always been busier than her mother. Most of the time, they left Hugh and Kalula with their grandfather, up until he passed away and they had no one else to leave them with. After that their mother had been home more often. When he mentioned the seafood, she giggled. It kind of made her wonder if Garett just grinned and bore the gross seafood. She hadn't really ever been one for Seafood, but if the time called for it, she'd eat it. But not Shellfish...That was something she just didn't want a thing to do with.
"Abosu, Kleo!" She called, placing her last two Riceballs down onto the ground, plate and all. Lazily, both of the dark types stood up lazily, giving a stretch before heading over to her. they were bent down by her legs now, chewing idly at the balls of Rice that she had left for them. Idly, Kalula ran a hand through Abosu's white fur, giving it a pat before starting to do the same to Kleo's fur. Even before they had started traveling with Garett, this had been a nightly ritual for the three of them. Kalula normally wasn't too hungry, so she always gave her leftovers to the two of them. They seemed to like it, even if they had already had their own meal, it was always nice to get a little extra.
"Me? Well, mom would pretty much make all kinds of things. Noodles, Riceballs, Fish, eggs. Whatever she could after Gramps stopped watching us." She mentioned fondly. Her mother wasn't a master chef, but pretty much a homemaker when she needed to be, and they had needed her, that much she knew. "Of course, when it came to snacks, Grandpa used to give me enough money to go buy some Pocky down at the store down the road. Of course...he did get mad at me one time because I used it to buy gunpowder balls instead. You know the ones that pop when you throw them on the ground? All the kids were doing it, I just wanted to see what was so cool about it." She mentioned. At least she learned a valuable lesson about buying what she said she was going to buy. Thinking about now, she never had heard Garret talk much about where he came from. She gushed about Asperita a lot, but that was just her. And she sure was asking a lot of questioned tonight. Wooow it really was so many questions. "What was your Hometown like? I don't think I ever asked you that." She sure hoped that wasn't being a bad Girlfriend, to not know where your own Boyfriend came from.

After his fiasco with the devil of a rice ball, Kalula was kind enough to scoot away for a bit, letting out a sigh, then a giggle in response to his down right act of stupidity. At least she wasn't mad that he'd just wasted a perfectly fine rice ball and could have gotten one of them burned if he'd taken and, therefor, spat out a larger quantity of rice to feed to the flames. Despite the hand covering her mouth, there was no doubt that she was amused by his recklessness and he let out a weak chuckle of his own, more out of embarrassment than out of real humor. She looked as though she was torn between wanting to say something or not wanting to say something, but in the end, she remained silent, only moving to sit closer to him when everything was alright. “Sorry,” he said a bit solemnly, but the saddened tone never reached his eyes, a dead give away he wasn't all that sorry after all and still just as happy as ever. “Guess that's Honey Bunches of Oats: one hundred and six to Gar-bear: none, huh?”Of course, he was used to this kind of stuff by now. Both the getting hurt over ridiculous things and the fact that Kalu always won at Life. He'd forget this ever even happened in the morning, anyway.
From the corner of his eye, Garett watched her as he explained who his dad shoved down he and his mom's throats because, as disgusting as it all was, it was still better than any slop the remaining two could ever make. Not that there was really much to watch for reaction-wise – it was just him talking about the nasty food he ate – but he liked watching her. In a non-stalker way, he meant! He was just... so happy he had the chance to even get to talk to a girl like her, much less get to spend night after night with her as her boyfriend. Not to mention she was cute, to boot! He'd been afraid that some of his Pokemon – Midna, especially, she had a tendency to be a little snarky to anyone she didn't know or, really, even those she did know decently enough – wouldn't like having a new partner, but all of them had been very accepting toward her. Even Tatl and Tael who he usually couldn't ever seem to calm down had yet to play any sort of prank on her yet. He wasn't sure, though, if that meant they just weren't going to or they were planning something major; needless to say, green eyes had been trained carefully on the Umbreon and Espeon pair whenever they could. Thinking about his Pokemon caused him to jump when she called to her own Pocket Monsters. “Abosu, Kleo!”
Along their travels, the blond had started to notice some trends that he figured his girlfriend had picked up before even he came to invade on the party. This was, as one could easily have guessed, one of those trends. She didn't eat much, always cooking more than she could chew or store, so the leftovers went to the two partners that were stretching and making their way over as they spoke. It didn't matter if they'd already eaten; it was like an extra reward, he assumed. Sometimes he wondered if Epona and Midna would enjoy the same, but the way his stomach growled and the fact that his Ponyta was already sound asleep – his dark-type Pokemon's eyes, as well, were blinking groggily as though trying to fight away slumber – made him figure otherwise once more. They didn't need extra snacks, anyway, he figured. The green-clad trainer made sure to feed them more than enough during meal times as rewards for battles well fought.
“Me?” she asked after he asked her what her mom cooked for them. “Well, mom would pretty much make all kinds of things. Noodles, Riceballs, Fish, eggs. Whatever she could after Gramps stopped watching us. Of course, when it came to snacks, Grandpa used to give me enough money to go buy some Pocky down at the store down the road. Of course...he did get mad at me one time because I used it to buy gunpowder balls instead. You know the ones that pop when you throw them on the ground? All the kids were doing it, I just wanted to see what was so cool about it.” He nodded, remembering when he'd survived through that craze. Everyone thought that they were the big cheese back then, and in response, he'd decided to make homemade substitutes just to go against the crowd. Not a single prototype did anything more than puff powder in his face. Not that he really minded, though. “What was your hometown like? I don't think I ever asked you that,” Kalu said and he realized that, no, she hadn't, and he probably talked about it as much as she asked about it.
But, of course, there was a bit of a reason for that. Some stupid village with stupid people and stupid laws... How outlawed Pokemon training? So stupid. And then that one girl had made raising his little Poocheyna – now his powerful Midna – sound like such a fantastic idea, but where did that leave him? Banished, that was where. Most of the reason why his parents traveled so much was because they couldn't just abandon him, but they couldn't take him back home, either. He didn't want to tell her that, though. He hated breaking the rules or the laws or any sort of moral thing and if he told her that, what if she thought of him like some kind of delinquent? He wasn't a criminal, just... a curious kid, was all. So he lied. As he lied to everyone. Really, it was starting to become a bad habit; thankfully, he had it down to such an art that it was unlikely she'd be able to tell the difference, anyway. “Just some village out in the mostly uncharted places in Kanto. Real tiny. Not to friendly to outsiders. We didn't have much to do there, so my parents got bored and we hit the road. I don't miss it, either – not one bit.” If only, stupid people and stupid laws or not, he didn't miss it so dearly.

Kalula had been caught. Garett could tell how amused she was, so she let all caution to the wind and let out a giggle anyway. When he finally apologized and sat down again, Kalula smiled. Sure, she knew he wasn't really sorry. When it came to Garett, his eyes more or less spoke for him, but she'd learn as much as there was about Garett to learn, all in time. She had plenty of it, because unless Garett got tired of her, she wasn't about to let him slip by. He mentioned their little score, and she let out another giggle, with a small nod. The campfire before bed with these two, was always pretty amusing. She really enjoyed the company, and it was nothing like the nights back then, when it was just her Abosu and Kleo. She loved them both, that wasn't the problem. It was just the fact that they couldn't speak to each other like they wanted to, using words. So most nights she'd spend babbling to them about, well, everything.
"I don't think you'll ever beat me Gar-bear~" She mentioned with a triumphant smile. Night like these in the woods, weren't all so bad. If they ended up in town at night, they'd stay in the Pokemon center, but they almost always had camping gear, just in case they didn't quite make it within the margarine of time of daylight they were given. Sure, she could have been a teen blinded by the excitement of a first romance. But she didn't think so, considering half the time she was blinded by everything else. She noticed Garett seem to be thinking so for the moment, she tended to Abosu and Kleo, now finished with their Riceball treats. She grinned at them as they both surrounded her, Kleo lightly placed her head into the trainer's lap, settling with a relaxed purr.
Finally, Garett spoke, answering her question in as much detail as he seemed to want to go into. Maybe she should have been able to tell she was lying, but as Garett suspected, he was good at it, and she didn't see through it. Maybe one day, but today, it just slipped past her. Still, she wondered how he couldn't miss his home town. Even now, that she was out wandering the world, her heart still ached for home. She missed Asperita a lot, but still, maybe there was just something he didn't like about it. He had told her that the people there weren't too accepting of outsiders. In Asperita, it was different. Well, everyone accepted everyone, even if they weren't from Asperita. No one ever found the need to be mean to an outsider. But she guessed not every town was the same. Not every person was the same. She blinked for a moment before nodding.
"Well, still, I'm sure traveling was exciting too!" As much as she missed home right now. Traveling was fun, but she still kind of wondered if her boyfriend didn't miss his roots at all. But she wasn't going to think too much into it, now wasn't the time. She shooed Kleo and Abosu for now, and this time, not having to get up, she once again went to rest her head on Garret's shoulder. She loved the quiet sounds of the crackling fire, and the occasional voice of a Pidove or something. She gave a small yawn. "It's a really beautiful night." She commented with a smile. She wasn't sure she had mentioned that before, but she never got tired of remembering how bright the stars were. She was a bit concerned though. She had camped out on her own before, but she always had this creeping concern about the Wilderness. Before, she had never expressed this to Garett, but for some reason tonight she felt worried. She was unfamiliar with these woods. "Gar-bear, you don't think some big scary Ursaring is going to try and come to eat us when everyone is asleep, right?" She asked in a sort of wonderment. She sure hoped not.

Figuring that he'd picked up on her amusement regardless of her attempt to suppress it, the brunette burst into a short fit of giggles that Garett couldn't help but find wonderfully contagious. Sure, the laughter was at his own expense, but he'd be lying if he wouldn't be laughing his brains out if it happened to someone whose well being he wasn't too concerned about. The fact that she was finding it enjoyable, as well, made it all the more enjoyable for he, himself. So he laughed along side her, probably louder and longer, but that was just the way his laugh was. Taking another bite of his generally cooled down rice ball, he leaned back as much as he could on their log to get a better view of the navy blue sky lingering over their heads. When he felt his hand begin to slip, however, and the weight of gravity warn him about toppling over, he chose against it, sitting back up before there was ever any thought from anyone else that he might have made a stupid mistake again. After all, with her reply to their score, he was reminded once more that he had to catch up and making a fool out of himself like that when she'd warned him about not falling off earlier wouldn't really help with that. “I don't think you'll ever beat me, Gar-bear~!” she challenged with a victorious smile.
Heh. Yeah. Probably not.
From there, he set about gobbling down the rest of his meal, thoroughly enjoying every bite of it. After years of dealing with his father's cooking, he was far from a picky eater, but even then, he'd be lying if he didn't honestly enjoy at least fifty percent of everything his girlfriend cooked, simple or not. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched Kleo and Abosu settled around their trainer, looking as content as they did a bit tired. It took him back to times where he'd set out on his own; when the weather was cold and he and his Eevee would all snuggle up into one sleeping back and wait out the night. People back then had said it was no wonder how they both evolved so early and readily into the Umbreon and Espeon that they were now. It almost pained him a bit to realize that, these days, he mostly kept all of his Pokemon save for Epona and Midna in their Poke'Balls. Turning to Kalula, he asked, “Hey, do you mind if I let out my Pokemon? I think their getting a bit antsy, guessing as they've been inside 'em for, like. Ever.” Actually, if he had to guess, they were probably just fine; it was he who was getting antsy about leaving them within the confines of their spheres for so long.
He'd turned to her fully after wrapping up his false description of his home town and eyes her carefully, careful as to not give away that he was worried she'd caught onto his little white lie. Kalula seemed to be pondering something, but she didn't looked particularly angry or accusing, so that might have been a good sign? However, after what seemed like – cliché as it was – and eternity of watching her and internally freaking out about her figuring him out, she blinked and nodded. It took a great deal of effort to suppress the sigh that threatened to escape his lips. He was a chronic liar and he was good at it, but he always felt horrible lying to Kalu about anything and always feared her reaction if she realized he was lying to her. He'd only lied a couple of times to her, anyway; much less than he did to everyone else. “Well, still, I'm sure traveling was exciting, too!” she said and he nodded because, really, it was fun. It helped combat the homesickness enough, at least, and that was wonderful in itself. “Yeah. I can't think of anything greater than the open road. Except spaghetti. And, you know -” he nudged her a bit and grinned, “- spending time with you. But since I get to go traveling with you, that makes it twice as awesome! So... thanks!” And that, he meant. Sure, he couldn't spend nights in a sleeping bag curled up with Tatl and Tael anymore, but he could never regret the days that he and she spent together camping and just traveling across Unova.
“It's a really beautiful night,” she said, grinning as well. Garett concurred. She'd yawned a bit before that, though, and he was about to suggest that they start getting ready for bed when she voiced, “Gar-bear, you don't think some big, scary Ursaring is going to try and come eat us when everyone is asleep, right?” He laughed, for whatever reason finding that funny, even if there was a possibility that could happen. However, feeling like a jerk because of it, he tried to fix through his laughs, “N-no, wait, I'm sorry, that's not funny, I'm a horrible person, I -” Another chuckle escaped his mouth, but he figured he'd get a hold of himself before trying to continue. “I-if it'd make you feel better, I can have Tael keep watch again tonight. He's an Umbreon; he practically thrives at night-time. He won't let anything hurt us.”
NOTE;; ha. ha ha. nice going, leap, three days after cali's post. OTL

The fact that at least Garett had been laughing about the whole situation was more encouraging for Kalula than ever. Then again, there would probably be rare times when they got mad at each other. For silly stuff like this, that wasn't one of them. She was content alright. At least Garett knew he was never going to win, right? Or...maybe that was a bad thing...she didn't really know. She couldn't wait to tell Mei about all this stuff. She would know how to do this, right? Well, if she and Garett had been together for a few months, at least it was going right so far...right? She zoned back in when Garett asked her a question about letting his Pokemon out. She blinked and looked up at him. Then she giggled.
"Gar-bear, you don't have to ask me, that's always an automatic yes! I love your Pokemon anyway!~" She assured him. Kleo and Abosu looked at each other and rolled their eyes, but showed their faces to neither trainer. They were fairly anti-social, with anyone else aside from their team members, Kalula, or her friends, but they decided they wouldn't make such a big fuss over it because Kalula would become upset with them, they were sure. Plus, Kalula really liked his Pokemon anyway. Kalula especially liked among his Pokemon, Navi, because she was really fluffy.
She listened to him speak about how he loved traveling almost as much a Spaghetti... almost.Kalula was pretty convinced by now that there wasn't anything more that Garret loved that wasn't Spaghetti, and it was all pretty amusing. Most of their conversations were about light hearted things like that, because neither of them had too much Angst. That was what made it so comfortable. She blushed when he mentioned another of his favorite things was spending time with her, and covered her face with a nervous chuckle. "Gar-bear don't say things like that, you'll make me blush." She mentioned through her hands. Putting them back into her lap, she smiled. "But, I know that's one of my favorite things too. You know, except not spending time with me, spending time with you." She said with a rather easy-going smile. She really did enjoy times where she could just sit there like she was now, for relaxation and a good chat. "Don't you thank me Mr. Heinrich. Cause I'd hang out with you even without the thanks." She mentioned playfully.
When he started laughing at her question, Kalula tilted her head slightly, with a small frown. Was getting attacked by an Ursaring really that funny? She figured it would kind of hurt, and that they wouldn't really want to be caught in a situation like that. She didn't think Garett was a horrible person, even when he said so, but she felt assured when he offered to put Tael on patrol for the night. Having something as watchful and intimidating as an Umbreon looking after them would be a great idea. "If Tael doesn't mind, yes please!~" She answered with a grin. Then she stopped for a moment and blinked. The next Gym she'd have to fight. It was a random thought, but something she'd need to consider. That being thought, she pulled a map from her pocket and looked it over.
"Nimbasa! The next gym is Nimbasa! That's...I think Hugh said it was electric types." She pondered for a moment. Yeah, that was it. "That means Tatetops will be my best bet!...er right?" She asked with s slight tilt of her head. She knew that out of all of her Pokemon, it probably was her best choice, but what about Bisa? Bisa could probably take the hits pretty well, right? Oh, she wasn't sure.

ignore this, this is me making sure this even works
Well, we've come this far, it should last forever. Something here, so strong, that's holding us together. Everything I do, well, I do for you, I didn't mean to let you down. So if I look control, somehow you'll always know that I'll come back around. Yeah, I've got this feeling, I can't shake it, alright. Hey, baby? Hey, baby! Can't let you walk away! 'Cause you're everything I want, you've got everything I need; I can't get over you, no matter what I do, you're everything to me.
